Following my discussion with Avdi on Meena Kumari's inability to have Children, i remember reading an article where her step son Tajdar Amrohi notes
"People said that Baba didn't let Choti Amni have Children but then how did she have three miscarriages- of which two were abortions?"
Of course i have no idea if its true or not but i really enjoyed reading the article by Meena's near & dear ones including an Ex Lover, her friend and her step son, and as much as i avoid delving into the private lives of my favourite stars, this article was a great read, hence i thought i'd share with you all, especially the Meena Kumari fans, so enjoy the scans below (Click on the links below each scanned page to read the pages clearly)

ReplyDeleteOf course, the view presented is just one sided. Personally, I don't agree that Pakeezah did well on its own. Yes, it's a grand movie. I know for a fact that it had a lukewarm response at Maratha Mandir theatre initially. It was only after the death of Meena Kumari that the box-office collections rose. Her funeral procession I had seen, as I was staying in that area at that time. It was a big procession though it's pity that it got mired in the Sunni-Shia conflict. She was a Sunni Muslim and Kamal Amrohi a Shia.
Yes, there is this universal impression that Meena Kumar was not happy with her relationship with Kamal Amrohi. And also about her wanting to bear children very much.
Regarding Kamal Amrohi, well, try to secure what Nida Fazli stated for which he has been dragged to court by Kamal Amrohi's son.
Some court disputes are going on between the siblings regarding property matters and suprisingly the name of Preity Zinta figures in t.
So nice to read that and see some unusual pictures too. I've never seen "baby" Meena pictures before - she looks so happy! Thanks so much for posting it.

ReplyDeleteI feel her life can be made into a movie.. poor little rich actress. A compulsive tragedy queen. I remember her talking on a radio show about the pain of being 'banjh', childless. And here her stepson talks of abortions. It is hard to say what was the truth.

ReplyDeletemaybe kamal did force her to abort the baby. It's no wonder. anyway, we don't know the truth but I wish I could help her in that time.Al-fatihah to her. may she's calm now..I could not stop crying when I'm reading abt herlife..
