As anyone who reads this blog knows or should know by now, Rekha is one of my all time favourite bollywood divas, I can never pick her as an all time favourite as I tend not to have a single favourite thing of anything, this is something i also adhere to in every other areas of my life, whether it be friends, food, music, place etc. I find the idea of having one thing as my favourite very limiting. What I do prefer to have instead are 'favourites', but if push came to shove and i was asked to pick my top three bollywood divas of all time, Rekha will surely be there. Thanks to everyone's comment from my previous post on who wore it best, going by the amount of votes in the comments and Voting Poll, its safe to say Mumtaz was way ahead of the competition and won by a whopping 99% of the vote, I was hoping I'd be able to review a Mumtaz film for the Win but then I realised I have none of her movies, but I'm going shopping soon and I'll be sure to get some of her films but till then enjoy this superb romantic number of her (yet in orange again and she looks mighty FINE!!) and Dharmendra from the 1969 film Aadmi aur Insaan (Someone tell me, why isn't this song as popular as I think it should be, its over the hill Fabulous!!)
This edition of Bollywood fashion Showdown takes place between three Bollywood startlets in 3 different era's all wearing the Iconic Orange draped sari first showcased by Mumtaz in the Aaj kal tere mere pyar song from the 1968 film Brahmachari, thus let the battle commence

First up is Mumtaz as already noted above, when she wore the Iconic Orange draped Sari in the groovy Aaj kal tere mere pyar song from Bramachari (1968)

Next came Leena Chandavarkar who wore a very similar Sari (in what looks like a parody of the Aaj Kal tere mere pyar song above) for the 'Hal dil laga' dance number in the 1971 film Preetam, see her in action below

Rounding off the battle is Sonam Kapoor who wore a very similar sari for a December 2010 photo shoot with Filmfare Magazine where she dressed up as Mumtaz in the Aaj kal tere pyar song as discussed above

The above blog title is the opening dialogue to Madam X which I've long been praying for to be released, but no one apart from Max Movie Channel seems to have a copy of this classic bollywood female kick ass flick. This 1994 release stars none other than one my favourite bollywood divas Rekha in a double role (wow!!! 2 Rekhas for the price of one). She's working her magic here once more, Kicking ass and parading in fashions fierce enough to give Lady Gaga an envious heart attack and make her quiver in her outrageous platform boots.

The Tribal Chic look is one i've come across while watching quite a lot of 60's-70's bollywood movies, at first i thought it was some costume thingy made up by bollywood, turns out i was quite wrong and there are actually people who wear such outfits in some parts of India.
The look usually consist of a diagonally draped fabric with lots of colourful accessories worn in the hair, neck, ankles and wrists, they 're normally worn during a huge colourful Tribal song/dance number like this one here
After seeing the look a number of times, i'm putting it to the test. Which of the female actresses below wore it best, is it

I have long been a fan of Rekha's over the top fashions in Khoon Bhari Maang which i reviewed a few months back, imagine my surprise when i saw pop star Rihanna a few weeks ago wearing the same scarf over your head outfit with sunglasses almost exactly as Rekha had hers in Khoon Bhari Maang. Part of the major appeal why Bollywood appeals to me are the songs, i particularly like the way some films (mostly masala) have certain formulaic songs, there's usually a happy song, a teary song, a romantic song, a seductive song and sometimes an angry song. Today my subject of discussion are those seductive songs, as every avid watcher of bollywood should know by now, no self respecting hero would/should give in to the charms of the seducing woman except if he is a villain. Below are some of my favourite bollywood seduction tunes
'Bahon mein Chalo' from Anamika (1973)This a rather diferent seduction song, here no flesh is being shown, our lovely heroine kust longs for her husband to come into her hands. Lata Mangeshkar has cited this as her favourire song of all time
'Lazy Lamhe' from Thoda pyar Thoda Magic (2008)Amisha patel totally sizzles in this super sensuous song with sexy vocals by Anusha Mani its so hot that she and Saif had to take a splash in the pool to cool down all the heat
'Husn ke lakhon rang' from Johnny Mera Naam (1970)What can be said of this song my jaws were left wide open when i first saw this song, Padma Khanna is utterly sexy in this watch how she teases Premnath by perfrorming a matador act with her skirt
'Aap Mujhe Achche lage ne' fromJeene Ki Raah (1969) A sultry looking Tanuja seduces a super cute Jeetendra in this breezy sensual song, the picturization reminds me a lot 0f Raat alkei hai from Jewel Thief (1967). Lata Mangeshkar won the Filmfare award for 'best female playback singer' for this song
'Hai Bichua'from Jheel Ke us paar (1973) watch as Yogeeta Bali tries in vain to seduce a rather cold and disgusted Dharmendra, she sways,she writhes on the floor, shows some leg and cleavage but he's having none of it, forget him Yogeeta go to Ranjeet instead
'Hum na hum rahe' from Muqqadar ka Faisla (1987)Meenakshi Sheshadri is dressed to kill in head to toe red, comes in a breezy night to tempt Raj Babbar in this soothing sensual song
'Pyaase do badan pyaasi raat mein' from Prem Nagar (1974)This song double as a daaru song just as much as a sensual number watch how Rajesh Khanna helps Aruna out of her long flowing gown to show a mini version of an outfit similar to one she wears in 'Main shayar to nahin' in Bobby (1973)
'Mere kis kaam ki' from Be-sharam (1978) What would a bollywood seductions list be without Bindu, watch as she teases Amitabh with her sexy moves, he can't help but smile and look on adoringly
'Bebo' from Kambakkht Ishq (2009) Alisha Chinoy shows she's still got it in this superb composure by Anu Malik and yes for once the hero does indeed give in to temptation
'Aao na' from Mere Jeevan Saathi (1972) I love you Helen, she definitely does not discriminate, watch as she attempts to seduce a blind Rajesh Khanna , you can see him fighting the urge badly but as the law of hindi film states that a well respected hero should never fall into temptation with a "bad woman" he turns down her advances
'Aa jaane ja' from Intaquam (1969)What can be said about this song, Lata Mangeshkar proves her versatitility with this song which i would have considered more Asha than Lata. Very interesting picturisation as well as Helen in full European girl mode tempts an African man with her sexuality (lots to discuss about this absurd picturisation but i shall save that for another day)
'Come closer' from Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (1984) i love you Bappi lahiri, this song proves just how much i do, anyone who is a big fan of pop, r'n'b or soul needs to listen to this soothing and sensuous song
'Dilbar Dilbar' from Sirf Tum (1999) What can be said about this song and i'll come out of the closet and admit that i listened to it repeatedly 25 times back to back in one day plus Sushmita Sen is totally sizzling, watch as she points, flicks her hair around and sways in this superb composure by Nadeem Shravan with vocals by the fabulous Alka Yagnik

With the hundreds if not thousands of bollywood movies which are released yearly, its no surprise that sometimes when directors are stuck on what to name their films, they often resort to the names of famous filmi songs, below is a huge list of some of my bollywood fan musings indeed some of them might just be coincidences, but then i doubt it
Tirchi Topiwale from Tridev (1989) (i love all the songs from this film, this is kalyanji Anandji at their best, this song contains a clever use of Gloria Estefans 'Rhythm's Gonna Get you')became a 1998 film starring Chunky Pandey & Monica Bedi
Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega from Sangam (1964) became a 2000 film of the same name starring Salman Khan with Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta singing 'Piya o Piya'
Buddha Mil gaya (ok i'm cheating a bit here, the song is called 'main kya karu ram mujhe buddha mil gaya') from Sangam (1964) ( this is the song that made me fall in love with Vyjayanthimala, even if you don't watch the others, make sure you watch this one for her funny facial expressions and superb moves) again became a 1971 film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee starrin Navin Nischol, Om Prakash & Archana
Na Tum Jaano Na Hum from kaho Naa Pyar Hai (2000) became a film of the same name starring Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan & Esha Deol
Aa Dekhen zara from Rocky (1981)became a 2009 film starring Bipasha Basu and Neil Nitin Mukesh
'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai' one of my favourite songs fromfrom Bobby (1973) became a 2004 film starring Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor
Ek Hasina Thi from Karz (1980) became a 2004 film of the same name starring Urmila Matondkar and Saif Ali Khan
In yet another song from karz (1980) 'Om Shanti Om' became a 2007 Farah Khan film starring Shahrukh Khan & Deepika Padukone
In what could possibly be the most ridiculous of the bunch John Jani Janardhan a great song from Manmohan Desai's Naseeb (1981) with the who's who of 60's, 70's and 80's hindi cinema making cameos and of course this is where Farah Khan got her 'Om Shanti Om' Deewangi Deewangiidea from. Anyway the song became a 1984 film starring Rati Agnihotri, Poonam Dhillon and Rajnikanth
Kambakkht Ishq (in one of my favourite bollywood rip off picturisations, yes the picturisation of this song rips off parts of Madonna's Human Nature) from Pyar Tune Kya Kiya (2001) became a 2009 film with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor
Kabhi Alvida Naa kehna from Chalte Chalte (1976) became a 2006 Karan Johar film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Muherjee, Preity Zinta and Sharukh Khan
